Did you catch Rocky the Musical at the Winter Garden, back in 2014?
I know it sounds like a silly concept for a musical, but it’s one of my favorites. The love songs between Rocky and Adrian, specifically “The Flip Side” and “Happiness”, are so sweet.

And One of Us, the training montage Act One closer, is so exciting!
The big gimmick at the end of the show is the Boxing Ring that comes out in to the audience. It’s a cool idea (and a logistical nightmare!). When I saw it, we were in the front row, but we were so off to the side that we didn’t have to get out of the way of the ring. Missed out on what I’m sure would have been a unique experience, but I think our cheapy tickets were something like $59, and I love a bargain.
Rocky the Musical is written by Ahrens and Flaherty who also did Once On This Island, Seussical and Ragtime. Fun fact, it started in Germany as Rocky Das Musical in 2012.
